Angela is General Counsel, Consumer Group where she is a member of the Consumer Group Operating Committee, and is responsible for legal matters concerning the Johnson & Johnson family of Consumer Companies.   On an enterprise level, she also counsels on developments in Global IP Policies for emerging markets and Africa in particular.

 

Angela is a patent attorney by training and began her J&J career as VP, Patents for Alza Corporation in California and later moved to Brussels where she was responsible for the Consumer Patent portfolio in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).  She later returned to the US and assumed global responsibility for the Consumer Patent portfolio.

 

Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Angela was Senior Division Patent Counsel for Corning Incorporated, New York, where she headed their advanced materials patent group.  Before that, she was at the law firm of Oppenheimer Wolfe & Donnelly in Minneapolis where she worked primarily in M&A, IP litigation and patent transactions. Prior to law, Angela worked for several years in engineering and marketing.

 

Angela received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, an MBA from the University of St Thomas, and a Juris Doctorate (JD Hons.) from William Mitchell College of Law where we was an Executive Editor of the Law Review. She is the president of Ireze Foundation, a non-profit organization which supports schools in resource-limited parts of her native country, Nigeria.
